THE NEWS

Rayonier Performance Fibers hired Rob Nason, Betta Place Associate and brother-in-law of the late Frederick John Cox, to design its annual holiday card. In addition, the company provided its customers with the children’s book Freddy & Flossy Flutterby and prints of the illustrations from the book as holiday gifts. Rayonier Performance Fibers is the world’s premier producer of cellulose fibers.

Betta Place, Inc., presented workshops to students and teachers of the pilot program schools Golden Door Charter School, Jersey City, NJ, and PS-53, Staten Island, NY, in June and September of 2005. CEO Karen Hupp and Associates Danielle Fornes, April Sheerin and Ann Douglas presented.

Barnes & Noble in Staten Island, NY, sponsored a Fair in June 2005 and donated the proceeds to Betta Place, Inc. Ann Douglas, author/illustrator, signed Freddy & Flossy Flutterby children’s books on June 3, 4 and 5.

April Sheerin, Meditation Specialist, and her husband Patrick Sheerin created and produced two CDs that she donated to the pilot program school classrooms. My Special Place and My Creative Place aid children in finding inner peace and strength.

On April 15, Armstrong Atlantic State University Literacy Workshop, Savannah, GA, featured Ann Douglas, author/illustrator of Freddy & Flossy Flutterby and founder of Betta Place, Inc., as the keynote speaker for university students, graduate students and teachers.
